About Finch Tree

History

The founder, Fred Finch, started his career in tree care in 1946 with the national leader, Davey Tree. Leaving the position of District Representative of Los Angeles and Orange counties in 1968, he embraced free enterprise and started Finch Tree. Working from home Fred followed an unaltered pursuit of excellence in pruning and customer satisfaction which earned him the respect and friendship of thousands of clients. Today, year- round arborist services are provided by over thirty employees who are supported with a fleet of trucks, specialized equipment and custom office facility.

Fred's son, Randy, graduated with a BS from the United States Naval Academy in 1971 and served for nine years in the nuclear submarine force before joining the family business in 1981. Besides the many years of practical experience shared with his father, Randy received education from Davey Tree on Tree Care-Urban Forestry, from CAL-POLY Pomona and University of California Extensions. Continuing education through professional and trade programs keep him and the firm updated with problem solving and technique developments.

Incorporated in 1981 the family business modernized with the first IBM personal computer system installed in 1985, and built an office and maintenance complex at 841 E. Mission Road, San Gabriel in 1987. The Nineties became a decade of new vehicles, state of the art computer systems, along with specialty tree worker training and hardware.

The new millennium brought management expansion and new leadership to further raise performance standards of tree care and professional response in our community. Arborist and Tree Care Safety Professional certifications were expanded. In 2005, the Corporation became the first accredited member of the Tree Care Industry Association in California among only a handful nationwide.
